Cricket Betting at bd9 — Bet on BPL, IPL and T20 Matches Across Top Markets
bd9 offers the chance to bet on cricket, the most popular sport in Bangladesh. You will find many markets together — from Match Winner to Toss, Top Batsman and Over/Under runs. BPL, IPL, T20 World Cup or Test series — all formats are covered.
Cricket's Three Formats and Popular Tournaments
Each format has its own character, and the types of betting markets differ too. All three formats are available for betting at bd9.
T20 Cricket
This 20-over format is the fastest-paced. BPL and IPL, as well as the ICC T20 World Cup, are played in this format. It is the most popular among Bangladeshi fans because a match is over in just a few hours. Results can change in an instant — which makes live betting especially interesting here.
ODI Cricket
A 50-over One Day International match. Strategy plays a bigger role here — there are betting opportunities across different markets from the Powerplay through the middle overs to the Death Overs. The ICC World Cup and bilateral series are played in this format.
Test Cricket
The longest format, played over five days. A draw is a possible result here, so the betting market is split three ways: Team A wins, Team B wins, or Draw. Analysing pitch conditions, weather and team strength is more useful when betting in this format.
Popular Cricket Competitions in Bangladesh
Bangladesh's domestic T20 league — the competition closest to Tigers fans. The number of markets on bd9 increases notably during the BPL season.
The biggest T20 franchise league in the world. A large number of markets open for every match, giving a much wider range of betting options.
The top tier of international cricket. Bangladesh Tigers matches are specially highlighted here.
When Bangladesh Tigers play Test or ODI series, betting markets are also available on bd9.
Betting on Football and Other Sports — How It Differs from Cricket
Along with cricket, bd9 also offers betting on football. However, there are some important differences between the betting structures of the two sports.
Football generally has three possible outcomes — Team A wins, Team B wins, or Draw. T20 and ODI cricket formats have no draw, so the market is split two ways. For this reason, cricket odds are usually structured a little differently.
In football, goal-based markets (Over/Under goals, both teams to score) are popular. In cricket, run-based markets (total runs Over/Under, Powerplay runs) are more common. Multi bets can also combine matches from both sports — in that case each match result must be correct individually.
bd9's sports section also has markets on Kabaddi, tennis and badminton, though cricket offers the most markets and variety.
7 Popular Cricket Betting Markets
Knowing how each market works in plain terms makes it easier to decide before placing a bet.
Match Winner
The simplest market — choose which team will win the match. Two options in T20 or ODI, three in Test (Team A, Team B, or Draw). Example: if you place ৳1,000 on Team A and Team A wins, you receive a return based on the set odds.
Toss Winner
Choose which team will win the toss before the match begins. The outcome depends entirely on chance — it has no connection to match statistics or team strength. Both options generally have roughly equal odds.
Top Batsman
Bet on which batter will score the most runs for a specific team. Decisions in this market are based on the position and current form of the team's leading batters.
Total Runs Over/Under
Choose whether the total runs scored in the match or innings will be above (Over) or below (Under) a set run line. Example: Total runs Over 155.5 — if the final score is 160, then "Over" wins.
Multi Bet
A single bet combining the results of multiple matches or markets. The odds multiply to increase the return, but all selections must win. If one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. A detailed example is in the odds section below.
Powerplay Runs
A separate market on how many runs will be scored in the first 6 overs (Powerplay). The top-order form of the team and pitch conditions play a big role in this market.
Wicket Betting
Markets on how many wickets will fall within a set number of overs, or at what score the first wicket will fall. Analysing the bowling lineup and pitch behaviour is useful here.
How to Read Decimal, Fractional and American Odds
Odds are displayed in three formats across different sites. All three carry the same information — only the way they are expressed differs.
| Format | Team A (example) | Team B (example) | How to Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.25 | 1.25 | Stake × Odds = Total Return |
| Fractional | 5/4 | 1/4 | Stake the denominator amount to win the numerator amount as profit |
| American | +125 | −400 | + means profit on a ৳100 bet; − means stake needed to win ৳100 |
Keep in Mind
All three formats give the same information — only the way they are written differs. bd9 generally uses decimal format, which is the easiest to read.
Example 1 — Team A Win, ৳200 Bet
Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125. A ৳200 bet returns ৳450 in total if Team A wins (৳250 profit + original ৳200). If Team A loses, the full ৳200 is lost.
Example 2 — Team B Favourite, ৳200 Bet
Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American −400. A ৳200 bet returns ৳250 in total if Team B wins (৳50 profit). The odds are lower for the favourite, so the profit is also lower.
Multi Bet Example
If three separate selections have decimal odds of 1.40, 1.50 and 1.70, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.70 = 3.57 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳357 in total if all three selections are correct. But if even one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.
Live Betting During the Match — Odds Change with Wickets and Overs
Live betting in cricket offers the most fast-moving experience. The odds that existed before the match began change with every ball, every wicket and every over.
Say Team A is batting and three wickets fall in quick succession — Team B's odds of winning will shorten (meaning Team B is now the favourite). In the reverse situation, when a big partnership builds, Team A's odds improve.
To place live bets you need to be able to follow the match score in real time. In bd9's in-play section, markets update alongside real-time score updates. Keep in mind that since odds change quickly, make sure you are certain before confirming a bet.
Betting is always for entertainment — reading the responsible gaming guidelines will give you practical advice on setting your own limits.
A Few Things Before You Start Cricket Betting
Understand the markets well — for beginners, starting with the Match Winner and Toss markets is straightforward. Build experience in simpler markets before moving to more complex ones.
Think by format — in T20, high scores are possible on batting-friendly pitches, but in Test cricket batting gets harder as the pitch ages. Choose markets with this difference in mind.
Set a budget — before each bet, decide how much of your total budget you will spend. Spread it across markets rather than putting it all on one.
Be careful with multi bets — while the return on a multi bet may look high, the risk increases just as much. It is better not to combine more than 3 selections when starting out.
Live betting requires quick thinking — in-play odds can change within minutes. Do not rush — check the score carefully before making a decision.
Use the app — bd9's Android and iOS app is available through official channels. In-play betting is much easier on mobile. You can find out more about the bd9 App here.
Read the rules — detailed betting rules are clearly set out on the Terms and Conditions page. It is especially important to know the conditions around void bets.
Remember it is entertainment — betting is a way to enjoy the excitement of the game. There is always a chance of losing — enjoy the game with that in mind.
